# Taxfix research appendix Research cutoff: 19 September 2026. Sources retrieved on that date unless otherwise specified. This is company/product research, not an assessment of a real person's tax return. ## Evidence standards **Verified public claim** means the claim appears on the linked page; it does not mean independently audited. **Observed** means the public browser experience was inspected directly. **Inference** means our product/commercial interpretation. **Unknown** means the research did not establish it. Confidence in a source is distinct from confidence that an idea will improve outcomes. The main note leads with the future direction and stays to two PDF pages. This appendix preserves uncertainty, source dates, and context that would otherwise crowd it. ## Source register | ID | Source and date | Evidence used / limit | |---|---|---| | S01 | [Taxfix corporate profile](https://taxfix.de/ueber-uns/), undated current page | Current leadership, geographical footprint, company-reported cumulative scale. Marketing leadership claims are not independently validated rankings. | | S02 | [German homepage](https://taxfix.de/), current browser capture | Public positioning and service choices. Browser and crawler showed different hero copy, so the screenshot is the observed variant. | | S03 | [Pricing](https://taxfix.de/kosten/), undated current page | German retail pricing and subscription terms; check the applicable checkout before making a purchase or quoting binding availability. | | S04 | [Basic](https://taxfix.de/basic/), undated current page | Self-filing and AI chat scope. Its FAQ contains subscription eligibility limitations that do not fully align with broader pricing-page messaging. | | S05 | [Annual subscription](https://taxfix.de/taxfix-abo/), undated current page | Public promise of document context, AI chat, and human support. Marketing claims were not tested inside a subscribed account. | | S06 | [Expert](https://taxfix.de/expert/), undated current page | Independent tax professionals prepare the return and the user reviews/approves it. Human assistance is already part of the model. | | S07 | [Self-employed launch](https://taxfix.de/angebot-fuer-selbstaendige/), 18 March 2026 | Execution on segment expansion, including bookkeeping/VAT services. Company-commissioned survey of 1,002 entrepreneurs; not evidence about employee needs. | | S08 | [COO appointment](https://taxfix.de/markus-berger-de-leon-ist-neuer-coo/), 6 November 2025 | Primary evidence for operating efficiency, profitable growth, adviser-network scale, and AI strategy. | | S09 | [CPO appointment](https://taxfix.de/en/pm-kristen-waeber-cpo/), 7 May 2025 | Kristen Waeber's appointment and portfolio remit; Lino Teuteberg moved to a strategic/board role. | | S10 | [TaxScouts brand change](https://taxfix.de/taxscouts-ist-jetzt-taxfix/), 17 September 2025 | Brand consolidation after acquisition; local expertise and shared product development. Lower confidence until the original 2024 filing is checked. | | S14 | [OpenRegister filing index](https://openregister.de/company/DE-HRB-F1103-253966), current record | Index distinguishes entity and consolidated 2024 filings published in 2026. Underlying documents were not retrieved. | | S15 | [AIDAQ session program](https://aidaq.berlin/program/from-product-to-platform-how-taxfix-is-shaping-ai-driven-finance), scheduled 23 September 2026 | Describes a forthcoming Martin Ott discussion of platform expansion. The event had not happened at the research cutoff. | | S16 | [Taxfix UK](https://taxfix.com/en-uk/), current page | Accountant-led personal filing and company services. Country-specific offering, not a German entitlement. | | S17 | [Taxfix Spain self-employed plans](https://taxfix.com/es-es/autonomos/), current page | Year-round adviser-led services, proactive reminders, forecasts. Context for the group, outside the proposed build. | | S18 | [Buhl WISO product](https://www.buhl.de/steuer/programm/), current page | Direct competitor baseline: AI tax answers, data import, photo receipts, live estimates. | | S19 | [ELSTER homepage](https://www.elster.de/eportal/start?themaGlobal=formulare_eop), current page | Official announcement of automatic preparation for eligible simple cases since July 2026 and guided/free offerings. | | S20 | [Taxfix notice help](https://support.taxfix.de/hc/de/articles/25498696735517-Deinen-Steuerbescheid-verstehen-und-pr%C3%BCfen), updated 14 September 2025 | Published manual workflow for comparing a notice with the return; older than the preferred evidence window by a few days. | | S21 | [Taxfix objection help](https://support.taxfix.de/hc/de/articles/25653894383517-Einspruch-gegen-den-Steuerbescheid-So-geht-s), updated 14 September 2025 | Says objections cannot be submitted through the app. Revalidate before presenting as a current limitation. Do not derive current legal deadlines from its older examples. | | S22 | [Taxfix filing guide](https://support.taxfix.de/hc/de/articles/28595920662301-Deine-Steuererkl%C3%A4rung-mit-der-Taxfix-App-So-funktioniert-s), updated 3 December 2025 | Existing completeness/plausibility checks and data import. Help text is not an authenticated usability test. | | S23 | [Taxfix media center](https://taxfix.de/media-center/), current listing | Official logos and product assets. Some product illustrations visibly refer to 2022/2023, so their age is not established by the page's crawl date. | | S24 | [Public app](https://app.taxfix.de/), observed 19 September 2026 | Product selection, then tax-year selection before signup. No personal data entered and no account created. | | S25 | [ELSTER benefits](https://faq.elster.de/eportal/infoseite/nutzen_und_vorteile), current page | Existing prefill, plausibility checks, digital notices and comparison. Basic comparison alone is not a defensible new proposition. | ## Financial evidence and limits | Measure | Figure / period | Scope and confidence | |---|---|---| | Reported historical revenue | EUR 55.9m in 2023; EUR 38.5m in 2022 | Group, according to S11's account of the public filing. Medium confidence pending original financials. | | Management revenue ambition | High double-digit millions of euros for 2025 | Target communicated in October 2025, not a verified actual. | | Profitability | Break-even not yet reached at the October 2025 interview | Historical management statement; present profitability unknown. | | Entity revenue | EUR 49.79m for 2024 | S13 labels Taxfix SE. Treat as provisional entity-level extraction, not a group figure. | | Entity net result | EUR -17.51m for 2024 | Same extraction caveat; not a current loss estimate or group result. | | Entity balance-sheet total | EUR 122.07m for 2024 | Same caveat. Not cash, revenue, valuation, or available runway. | | Historical funding round | USD 220m Series D, April 2022 | Primary investor announcement, S12. | | Historical valuation | Above USD 1bn at that round | Financing valuation in 2022 only. | **Do not draw a growth line between 2023 group revenue and 2024 entity revenue.** Do not infer revenue from filing totals, refunds, staffing, funding, or a database that labels tax filing revenue as ARR without explaining its basis. GetLatka's [2024 revenue entry](https://getlatka.com/companies/taxfix.de) states USD 56.6m but lists its source as “Not recorded.” It is excluded from the brief's financial baseline. Other sites list multiple entity and consolidated filings; the original filings should be examined if exact recent financials become decisive to the presentation. ## Strategy: statements versus our interpretation | Evidence | What we may infer | What it does not prove | |---|---|---| | Operations and partner-platform priorities in S08 | Faster resolution per expert could support the growth plan | Taxfix has approved our proposed agent workflow | | Subscription product in S05 | Useful service outside filing season may support renewals | Current renewal rates, willingness to pay more, or financial impact | | Segment expansion in S07 | Management is investing beyond the original employee use case | This presentation should expand into business tax; the user rejected that scope | | Scheduled platform talk in S15 | Platform positioning remains prominent in upcoming public messaging | A delivered interview, new product launch, or committed future roadmap | The proposed four journeys are an interpretation, not an announced Taxfix plan. Their effect should be established with customer research and funnel/case data. ## Competitive check within the chosen scope | Product / alternative | Role and user | Observed focus | Implication for our proposal | |---|---|---|---| | Taxfix's existing products | Internal baseline; German personal-tax filers | DIY, contextual subscription chat, documents, expert services | Demonstrate integrated action and exception resolution; avoid repackaging existing features. | | WISO Steuer | Direct competitor; German filers | Integrated SteuerGPT, prefill, receipts, live calculation; public prices EUR 35.99 subscription / EUR 45.99 one-off | A generic AI tax assistant is already competitive baseline. Pricing is a current public offer, not normalized feature parity. [S18](https://www.buhl.de/steuer/programm/) | | Mein ELSTER / MeinELSTER+ | Free government substitute; scope varies by service | Prefill, receipt collection, comparisons and eligible-case automation | Fast simple filing alone is a weak premium story; demonstrate uncertainty resolution and service. [S19](https://www.elster.de/eportal/start?themaGlobal=formulare_eop) · [S25](https://faq.elster.de/eportal/infoseite/nutzen_und_vorteile) | | Human tax professionals | Service substitute and partner channel | Individualized judgment; already embedded in Taxfix Expert | Preserve the professional's role and reduce avoidable retelling. [S06](https://taxfix.de/expert/) | This is a focused differentiation check, not an exhaustive market map. No assertion that competitors lack an untested capability. We have not measured their UX or autonomous execution. Group-owned Steuerbot is not counted as an independent competitor. ## Product experience evidence Fresh captures are indexed in [screenshots/index.md](../screenshots/index.md). The browser showed English by default in the public app; no language preference has been inferred for the proposed prototype. The homepage used a deadline-focused acquisition message, while the subscription page emphasized ongoing service. Observed public app sequence: choose personal tax or advance VAT, continue, choose tax year, then signup. We stopped at signup. This establishes the visible entry flow and visual language only. The authenticated home, exact paid chat behavior, evidence review, expert console, and complete filing path remain unobserved. Marketing-page screenshots captured today are fresh evidence of the website. Embedded product illustrations can be older; capture date does not prove the depicted app version. Official media-center screenshots with 2022/2023 tax years were not used as current product UX evidence. ## Contradictions and open questions - Current corporate text says over 400 employees, while the homepage has a 300+ counter. Use the explicit corporate text with attribution, not a precise headcount inference. - The subscription page describes contextual AI plus human support, but Basic's FAQ separates self-service from expert service and contains eligibility limitations. The experience should clearly distinguish AI, support, and a qualified adviser; confirm plan boundaries before using product availability claims in the deck. - Expert is promoted “from” a minimum price, while pricing detail describes a refund-linked fee. Do not present the minimum as a fixed total fee for all users. - The March 2026 launch text contains older group totals than current corporate pages. Do not mix dated milestones into a purported year-on-year growth rate. - Current account-level performance of proposed workflows and willingness to pay are unknown. Obtain interviews and analytics before attaching numeric uplift targets. - The fourth theme has published support evidence, but that help is slightly over a year old. Current product confirmation remains an explicit pre-presentation check. - No public evidence located here establishes Taxfix's present real-time voice-to-filing capability. This is not proof of absence. - Presentation audience, demo language, exact persona, and final theme selection remain open for discussion.
